Eggi mengaku keberatan dengan status itu dengan alasan bahwa ketika itu dia sedang menjadi pengacara Prabowo Subianto, yang ketika itu merupakan Capres 2019. Menurut Eggi seorang pengacara yang sedang menjalankan tugas tidak boleh dikriminalisasi. Kemudian Eggi mengungkit nama Basuki Tjahaja Purnama alias Ahok.
